God "Stretches" apart the Universe - Bible Coincidence?

"In 1917, Willem de Sitter used Einstein's equations to predict the discovery of an expanding universe.in letter from Albert Einstein to astronomer Willem de Sitter, complaining that the expanding-universe theory implied a moment of creation: “To admit such possibilities seems senseless to me,”

Bible verses speaking to God "stretching" the heavens 3,500 years before Einsteins GR equation.

Job 9:8

Who alone stretches out the heavens And tramples down the waves of the sea;

Psalms 104:2

Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.

Isaiah 40:22

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

Isaiah 42:5

Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath to the people on it And spirit to those who walk in it,

Isaiah 44:24

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, "I, the Lord, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself And spreading out the earth all alone,

Isaiah 45:12

"It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands And I ordained all their host.

Isaiah 48:13

"Surely My hand founded the earth, And My right hand spread out the heavens; When I call to them, they stand together.

Isaiah 51:13

That you have forgotten the Lord your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth, That you fear continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, As he makes ready to destroy? But where is the fury of the oppressor?

Jeremiah 10:12

It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom; And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.

Jeremiah 51:15

It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom, And by His understanding He stretched out the heavens.

Zechariah 12:1

The burden of the word of the Lord concerning Israel. Thus declares the Lord who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him,

The cosmological constant (aka Dark Energy aka Gods stretching) is a term in the Einstein field equations that describes the energy density of the vacuum. It is a very small number, but it is thought to be responsible for the accelerating expansion of the universe. It is fine tuned to be one chance in 10^120. A physicist discusses it here in 2 min. He says, " no one thinks that's just luck."

Some people have suggested that the cosmological constant is mentioned in the Bible, above.

The phrase "stretched out the heavens" could be interpreted as a reference to the expansion of the universe.

It is also important to note that the cosmological constant was not discovered until the 20th century. It is unlikely that the authors of the bible had any knowledge of the cosmological constant which lends to a creator making this observation.

Overall, it is possible to see a connection between the verses above and the cosmological constant.

Here is a more in-depth discussion of the possible connection:

  • The cosmological constant is a very small number, but it has a profound effect on the universe. It causes the universe to expand at an accelerating rate, and it is thought to be responsible for the existence of dark energy.

  • The bible describes God as the creator of the heavens and the earth. It also says that he "stretched out the heavens with his hands." This phrase could be interpreted as a reference to the expansion of the universe.

  • It is important to note that the Bible is not a science textbook. It is primarily a religious text, and it should not be taken literally in all cases. However, some people believe that the Bible contains scientific truths that were revealed to the authors by God.

  • It is also important to note that the cosmological constant was not discovered until the 20th century. It is unlikely that the authors of the bible  had any knowledge of the cosmological constant when he wrote this verse which makes this all the more remarkable.

Despite these caveats, some people believe the bible is a prediction of the cosmological constant. They argue that the phrase "stretched out the heavens" is a clear reference to the expansion of the universe. They also argue that the cosmological constant is a very small number, but it has a profound effect on the universe, just like God's power.

Ultimately, whether or not the bible is a prediction of the cosmological constant is a matter of faith. There is no scientific evidence to support the claim, but there is also no evidence to disprove it. In any case all these verses are beyond coincidence.
